Share-A-Bear

Our 2011 Share-A-Bear Tour was a GREAT success, thanks to our membership and our friends. Staring October 1st and running through December 17, we collected 192 new teddy bears and $442 in cash which we delivered to Children's National Medical Center on Monday, December 19. Thank you everyone and stay tuned for our 2012 plans!

The Beltway Bear's Share-A-Bear project collects NEW teddy bears throughout the year and distributes them in December to young patients in Washington, D.C.'s, Children's National Medical Center.

Beltway Bears needs NEW huggable, non-holiday themed bears that stand 12- to 18-inch high. Teddy Bears offer comfort to children that are in emotional or physical pain. These soft, cuddly stuffed bears will bring companionship to those children in the hospital during the holidays.

Thank you for donating 217 teddy bears!!

We thank everyone who donated a teddy bear or adopted in 2009. Thanks to you, 217 sick children at the Children's National Medical Center (DC's Children's Hospital) and Johns Hopkins' Childrens received a teddy bear to help ease their pain while they were patients. Special thanks to EFN Lounge/Motley Bar in Washington, DC, PW's Sportsbar in Laurel, Md., the Washington Blade, DJ Jim Gade, the Webster United Church of Christ, Congregational in Havre de Grace, Md., and Mary Louise (Muir) Walter for their help in collecting the teddy bears.
