We know that DCBC is hosting tubing January 28. Because many of us cannot attend that weekend, we’re providing an alternate to our members. We do not discourage anyone from attending on the 28th, if you've made plans, please keep them. If you want to join us too, please do!
We invite you to Bear Snow-Tubing event at Liberty Mountain Ski Resort. Beltway Bears will be snow-tubing AFTER dinner at Hoss’s Steakhouse. Yes, NIGHT TIME SNOW TUBING! So hang out at the INDOOR HEATED SWIMMING POOL in the afternoon, then off to dinner, then snow-tubing, then back to the hotel to GET TUBED at a private after-party in the Cheezypuff Suite. After Checkout at the Host Hotel (before 11:00AM) Beltway Bears plan a brief historical visit for highlights of the battlefield at Gettysburg, PA.
Beltway Bears are not charging a “run fee” for this event, so please - BYOB and snacks!
Host Hotel is the Quality Hotel on Steinwehr in Gettysburg. HOT breakfast is included. $65/room up to 5 occupants. $75 for more than 5 occupants. For Reservations, CALL: (717) 334-1103 When you make your own hotel reservations, mention Group Code “BELTWAY BEARS” to get this rate.
Hotel Notes: Gettysburg has a 9% Room Tax which will be added to this low rate. Check-in is at 3pm. Check-out is at 11am. Bring a swimsuit! Breakfast is included at this rate for your room.
The NIGHT Snow-Tubing is at the BOULDER RIDGE area at Ski Liberty.
Address for your GPS: Liberty Mountain Resort 78 Country Club Trail, Carroll Valley, PA 17320 - Look for the “Boulder Ridge” signs, which should lead you around behind the ski resort (probably LEFT) about ¾ mile. If that road is icy, there are occasional little busses that can pick you up in the main parking lot at the Resort. For turn-by-turn directions, call 717-642-8282
Boulder Ridge has been running snow machines since December 22, laying down a base, but has delayed opening to wait for more snow….. SNOW CONDITIONS: 717-642-9000
Boulder Ridge has a CONVEYOR BELT to transport you and your rented tube to the top of the hill. You will need to walk a few short steps on an icy slop. BRING GOOD SHOES – no high heels, Nick (lol)!
Hoss’s Steakhouse: 1140 York Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325 http://www.hosss.com/index.html Exact Dinner time to be announced. Be prepared to stand in line a few minutes, as your fellow Bears will be ordering and paying at a single cash register. (The salad bar alone is worth the wait!)
It’s fun to GET TUBED with Beltway Bears! |

Hey guys, your friends at Beltway Bears have come up with an exciting and unique new activity. We bears are going to hit the famed Blob's Park Bavarian Dance Hall in Jessup, MD on Saturday, October 15. Show starts at 8:00pm, but we plan on arriving at 7:00pm to get our Polish eat and drink on. Our entertainment that night will be Karl Lukitsch & The Autobahn from Pennsylvania and The Alt Washingtonia Schuhplattlers. Cover is $12.
Now you know you've always wanted to get your Polka on, so grab some bears, then grab some beers, and then grab some bears again and join us as we enjoy Octobearfest. We've made an initial reservation for 20. Please let us know if you plan on attending so if the numbers go above 20 we can plan accordingly. The folks at Blob's are looking forward to our visit.
For more information, including food and beer menus, and directions, visit: http://www.blobspark.net/
There isn't much in the line of public transportation to this venue, so you know the drill, let us know if you need a ride and we'll do our best. |

Beltway Bears members for over a year have supported the DC Center's safe sex outreach campaign: FUK|!t. They first began packing safe sex kits (condom, lube, safe-sex info) at Motley Bar, and then the Green Lantern. Not wanting to be behind the curve, we've decided to have our own parties too. Beltway Bear member Greg Waksmonski has very kindly offered to host our first packin' party at his home in a semi-deluxe apartment in the sky-hi-hi, in Alexandria. Greg will provide Pizza and Soda. If you want something other to drink or eat/share, feel free to bring along. We'll probably be at it til 10p or so. For location information, please contact Jim Slattery at jamesaslattery@aol.com. |

We are very excited to announce a fun companion event next month on Sunday, July 24. .... From 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. we'll be gathering at AMF College Park Lanes, 9021 Baltimore Blvd., College Park, MD. The cost is $10 per person for shoe rental and bowling. We ask that you bring cash which we will collect and use to settle our tab with the lanes. We had a wonderfully fun time bowling earlier this year in Alexandria, and thought that since it'll likely be typically hazy, hot and humid come late July, that some indoor air-conditioned activities were in order. The lanes are accessible by the 86 bus route from the College Park Metro Station on the Green Line. If you need a ride, just post a message to the yahoo or facebook groups and we'll work on identifying a lift for you.
Immediately after bowling ends, we'll be moving on to the home of two of our members, Bill and Josh, for a BBQ. If you can't make bowling, please try to make it to the BBQ. Good eats, good drinks and even gooder people. :) Their address is:
7403 Wellesley Drive, College Park, MD.
Beltway Bears will be suppling the meats and some beer/sodas. If there's something you like to drink, please bring it. We'll also have cake for dessert and some munchies. You are more than welcome to bring a side or more munchies too.
There will be plenty of people with cars who can get you from bowling to here or from the Metro at College Park which is very close to Bill and Josh's. The number at the house is 240-965-6833 and my cell is 202-256-5869. Any problems give a shout. Do please RSVP so that we know a rough idea of who mimght be coming.
Hope you're having a good summer so far and we look forward to seeing you in College Park on July 24!
