On January 29, 2011, Beltway Bears was invited to become a member club on the Board of Directors of Brother, Help Thyself. We were pleased to accept this invitiation as we believe they are the right fit for our philanthropic activities. Beltway Bears' President, Jim Slattery, was elected Secretary of Brother, Help Thyself in April, 2011.
Brother, Help Thyself is a community based organization that provides financial and other support to non-profit organizations serving the LGBTQ and HIV/AIDS community in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Brother, Help Thyself has distributed over 2 million in grants in the past several years to these organizations.

In 2011, Beltway Bears' and its generous supporters raised $1,595.49 for Brother, Help Thyself. Our Bears, Bowls and Balls Chili Super Bowl Sunday Party at the DC Eagle netted $230 and our ventures into the sexy and generous Bëar Crüe crowd at Town on Friday, March 11, Friday, May 13, Friday, July 8 and Friday, Sept. 9 resulted in $350, $413.49, $301 and $308 in donations respectively. Thanks to Carl, Ted and Peter at the DC Eagle and to Charger Stone and the wonderful staff at Town for their tremendous support and generosity as well! Stay tuned to learn our plans for 2012!
